Four persons were killed and many injured when a passenger train and a goods train collided in suburban Vyasarpadi on Wednesday. The passenger train from Chennai and the goods train from Arakkonam collided at Jeevanagar railway station, resulting in a fire, police said.
Four bodies have been retrieved by the fire and rescue personnel, police said, adding, more casualties were feared. The mishap has resulted in disruption of rail services on this busy route, they said.

As per our anticipation for fierce naxal attacks in coming days on April 09,2009 (specifically mentioned Dantewada & Gadchiroli Regions to Indian Agencies), it comes true on April 16,2009 during first phase of LS - 2009 Elections, when Naxal rebels attacked 15 places including Killed about 40 armed personnels in more then 19 attacks including high security Installations. We are still receiving instructions of more attacks in CG specifically in Kanker District. Also Railway Bridges are at their target specially on Trunk routes connecting major cities of India.

March 22, 2009 (Computerworld) Astronauts aboard the space shuttle Discovery and the International Space Station this afternoon maneuvered the connected crafts to avoid a piece of space debris that is hurtling toward them.The maneuver should keep the connected vehicles safely away from the space junk, which NASA officials believed was on track to cross the orbiter's path while astronauts were making their scheduled spacewalk on Monday. NASA feared that the debris could have forced it to postpone the spacewalk.
This is the third time in little more than a week that space junk has come close enough to the space station to pose a potential risk to the crew and the orbiter. The space station crew was on alert early last week before a 4-inch piece of a defunct Russian satellite ultimately flew harmlessly by on Tuesday morning. And then late the week before, the two U.S. astronauts and one Russian cosmonaut abourd the station were forced to seek shelter in the attached Soyuz TMA-13 Capsule when a piece of an old rocket motor came too close for comfort.The space shuttle Discovery, which is on a 14-day mission, docked with the space station last Tuesday.
Today, at 4:31 p.m. EDT, the astronauts completed the latest maneuver, which is designed to slow the two attached crafts enough to avoid the latest approaching debris, which NASA describes as a 4-inch piece of a Chinese satellite. NASA reported that ground control had the crew maneuver the two so that Discovery is in front of the space station as they travel through space. "Discovery and the station will stay in this orientation long enough for the natural drag to slow the stack by about a foot per second, estimated to take three hours," said NASA in an online report.
NASA also noted that without doing this maneuver, the piece of space junk would have crossed the shuttle-station orbit repeatedly for several days. The first time it approached the orbiter would have been about two hours into Monday's scheduled spacewalk.
Earlier today, the NASA crew aboard the space shuttle Discovery got some downtime to prepare for their third space walk tomorrow.

The National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL)- built second prototype (PT2) of Saras, which was on a test flight, crash-landed in an open area at Sheshagirihalli near Bidadi at around 3.45 pm, killing test pilots.

GUJIAO: A blast in one of north China’s coal mines on Sunday killed 74 people, the rescue headquarters said.
Rescuers said that among the 114 hospitalized miners, six were in a critical condition.The accident occurred at 2:17 a.m. on Sunday while 436 miners were working underground at the Tunlan Coal Mine of Shanxi Coking Coal Group in Gujiao City, about 50 km from Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi Province.

Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee and other passengers onboard a Jet Airways flight had a narrow escape on Sunday evening when their plane had to abort landing and take a "go-around" after the pilot spotted another aircraft on the runway.
"Jet Airways flight (9W-913), which had Speaker Chatterjee also in it, took off from Kolkata this evening and arrived at Delhi airport at around 7.45 p.m. As the aircraft was descending to land, after getting clearance from the ATC, the Jet Airways pilot spotted another plane on the runway," sources said. It was not immediately known how many passengers were in the aircraft.

Within minutes, a bird hit its left engine. The blades of the engine broke and sparks were seen due to friction.

Guwahati, (IANS): A major disaster was averted on Wednesday when a powerful explosion missed the super fast Rajdhani Express from New Delhi by a couple of minutes, although the blast damaged a portion of a railway track in Assam, officials said.
The Rajdhani Express was bound for Tinsukia in eastern Assam from New Delhi and was carrying about 700 people.
"Definitely the target was the Rajdhani Express as the blast took place two minutes after the train passed the explosion site," the police official said.

NEW Delhi: Following heightened threat perception to sensitive installations, the government on Tuesday declared the Kalpakkam nuclear power plant in Tamil Nadu a no fly zone to prevent any 9/11 kind of targeting of this sensitive site. Kalpakkam now joins the only other atomic installation, Tarapur in Maharashtra, to have flights barred over its immediate airspace.
Sources said in almost every security meeting held following the recent Mumbai attack, the intelligence agencies had been stressing the need to declare Kalpakkam a no fly zone.
"This was the first priority item in almost every meeting. The Indian Air Force also asked for declaring Kalpakkam a no fly zone given its extremely high threat perception. Hence in national interest, the DGCA has issued the order on Tuesday without losing any time," said sources.

Passengers on board the Indian Airlines Lucknow-Delhi flight IC-812 had a hair-raising experience as the aircraft was asked to go around at the last moment while landing at the Delhi airport on Tuesday evening.
The incident took place at 6.45 pm, when another aircraft was spotted on the same runway as the Indian Airlines flight was about to touch down.

The wreckage site borders Bijapur district of Chhaattisgarh, he said.
Sibsagar, Nov. 12: A MiG-21 trainer fighter aircraft of Indian Air Force (IAF) today crashed in upper Assam's Sibsagar district but the two pilots ejected safely.This is the sixth IAF jet crash this year. The two pilots on a training sortie on the MiG-21 Type-69 trainer plane bailed out to safety, IAF sources said here.

"There was no injury to anyone with the plane carrying two passengers and two pilots. Navin Jindal was in the aircraft," SC Sharma, executive director of the Airport Authority of India in Guwahati said.The aircraft was flying from New Delhi to Guwahati. But the deflated tyre was caused by hydraulic brake failure.

Building collapses in Mumbai, six feared dead
Mumbai: A five-storey building collapsed in the congested lanes of Crawford Market in Mumbai at about 0500 hrs IST on Wednesday killing at least six people.
Relief and rescue efforts have been launched and 10 fire engines have been rushed to the spot.
One of the injured has been pulled out from the debris while some more people are still feared trapped.
So agencies needs to be cautious on our alerts, coming up next is the poll results of assembly elections in Rajasthan, MP, CG, and Delhi soon in next postings...

Guwahati (PTI): Five security personnel, escorting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, were injured when their escort vehicle met with an accident near the Guwahati Medical College Hospital.
The Maruti Gypsy escort vehicle rolled off a small bridge at Bhangagarh near the hospital injuring the five, official sources said.
The injured were admitted to the GMCH where the condition of four was stated to be out of danger while the fifth person's condition was stated to be serious.
The Prime Minister and the UPA chairperson were on their way to the GMCH to visit the injured in Thursday's serial blast which claimed 77 lives.Also aviation industry needs to keep at high alert reg. New Delhi (PTI): An Air India Tirupati-bound flight with 66 passengers on board had to make an emergency landing here after an hour of its take off due to some technical fault, airport officials said.
"Air India's Delhi- Hyderabad-Tirupati flight (IC 942) had to make an emergency landing after an hour of its take off from the Indira Gandhi International airport here around 10.15 am due to some technical fault," officials said.

An eight-seater aircraft owned by the Punjab government crashed near Ludhiana on Wednesday noon, killing both the pilots on board.
The crash took place at Jugiana, about 12 km from Ludhiana when the aircraft was trying to land at the Sahnewal airport on a routine flight, according to the preliminary eyewitness account by local villagers.
Capt Manjit Singh Khokhar and Capt Dalip Kataria, both experienced pilots, were killed as the plane suddenly lost height and caught fire soon after ploughing into a thick growth of trees on the premises of an abandoned factory at Jugiana village, barely 4 km short of the airport where the plane was to land.
3. Barack Obama wins the next US Presidential elections , but he will be on the Presidential Post for less then 2 years period. (about 1.5 years) Dt. 29/10/2008

Pakistan earthquake kills at least 150

ISLAMABAD: A powerful earthquake jolted parts of southwestern Pakistan early Wednesday, leaving at least 150 people dead and hundreds more injured, officials said. The death toll was expected to rise.
The 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck Quetta, the provincial capital of Baluchistan, and several districts of the province between 4:30 a.m. and 5:10 a.m Wednesday, causing widespread destruction, the state-run news agency reported.

Alert : Air Disasters & Terrorism...
Dear Friends,
The inputs in last 2 days indicates various Air Disasters and Terror Strikes across the world in next few days , so aviation security must be raised to high level. Hijack attempts can be done in this period.
1. Hyderabad should be kept at high alert. Dt. 26/10/2008
2. Suicide bombing at airport premises, airport vehicles like buses in Pakistan's premier cities Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore. High casualty results. Dt. 27/10/2008
3. Collision of planes is possible again on runways. Dt. 27/10/2008
4. 2-3 planes may be fired/bombed on ground after hijacking or accident. Dt . 27/10/2008
These alerts (3 & 4) are of world level but the probability of occurrence is most likely in South Asian Region. So keep concern agencies related to aviation industry needs to kept them at high alert for next 15-20 days.
