The alert comes after a warning by the IB about attacks on seven possible terror targets in Maharashtra

Mumbai faces yet another security threat via sea. The city has been put on high alert despite rough weather conditions and flood-like situation. The alert comes after a warning by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) on seven possible terror targets in Maharashtra in one of the most serious threats the financial hub has received in the past two years. (Please Read Our Post Dt. June 22, 2009)

Despite the rough sea conditions, Pakistan-based extremists could carry out more 26/ 11 style attacks. Home Minister P Chidambaram reportedly confirmed the threat to Mumbai. The Navy and coast guard have been put on high alert.

The possible targets are key railway stations, shopping malls, luxury hotels and a reputed bank in Mumbai. Sources confirmed to Hardnews that photographs of these locations have been sent to security agencies after they were found from a terror suspect nabbed in J&K.

However, no reports have confirmed the number of terrorists that could enter India via sea and neither have they confirmed whether there is a possible local involvement or the possible timing of the attack. The threat is second of its kind in a month after a similar threat was issued on June 24.

The latest possible terror attacks on Mumbai come at a time when the entire city is battling a flood-like situation because of continuous rains. The Mithi river has crossed the danger mark.

Meanwhile, a top UN official monitoring the UN Security Council sanctions against various terrorist groups said that the LeT might target India again as it is trying to increase the tension between India and Pakistan. LeT was declared a terrorist organisation after it coordinated the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai.

BJP is claiming victory in the Lok Sabha 2009 polls in media after our declaration of results... till 3rd phase voting no such claims were made in media by any party or channel (biased Opinion Poll results were shown by all media channels claiming UPA's return to power).

Now our anticipation threat to Hyderabad as claimed by us on Jan. 26,2009 got verified as Intelligence Agencies alerted Hyderabad Police for a possible terror attack on May 07,2009. We shall help agencies to tackle this menace as we always doing as its responsibility every citizen...

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad city police is once again on alert after fresh inputs from intelligence agencies about a terror module operating in South India.

With Hyderabad being one of the main targets of terror elements, the city police have swung into action and are beefing up security. Though the alert did not point to Hyderabad being the target of the terror module, city police are not taking any chances. “It was a general alert by the intelligence agencies about the movement of a terror module in South India. Following the alert, we have intensified checks at all public places,’’ City Police Commissioner B Prasada Rao said.

For a half-hour, the Boeing 747 and F-16 jet circled the Statue of Liberty and the lower Manhattan skyline near the World Trade Center site. Offices evacuated. Dispatchers were inundated with calls. Witnesses thought the planes were flying dangerously low.

Four persons were killed and many injured when a passenger train and a goods train collided in suburban Vyasarpadi on Wednesday. The passenger train from Chennai and the goods train from Arakkonam collided at Jeevanagar railway station, resulting in a fire, police said.
Four bodies have been retrieved by the fire and rescue personnel, police said, adding, more casualties were feared. The mishap has resulted in disruption of rail services on this busy route, they said.
